In November, we successfully expanded our partnership with Street League into Liverpool. DHL employees at DHL easyJet hosted young people from the local Street League Academy. The young people were able to visit Liverpool airport and see the operation in action with a tour of all the departments whilst meeting employees along the way. A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to go airside and sit in the tug vehicle that pushes the planes into position.
The site visit left the young people inspired about the world of work and offered better understanding of employment opportunities in their local area. We would like to give a big thank you to Andy King, Alivia Williams, Alan Abbott and Emma Latimer for making the visit so engaging.
Station Manager, Andy King, shared “the site visit was a really positive experience for me and my team members, pushing us all outside of our comfort zone. I would encourage any colleagues considering taking part in GoTeach to just go for it.”
GoTeach sessions such as this one demonstrate the impact of our partnership with Street League and the positive influence this activity can have on the young people taking part.
Who are Street League?
Street League present opportunities to young people whilst supporting them to develop essential skills they need to succeed in life and the workplace. Through the influence of sport, Street League help young people aged 14-30 from disadvantaged communities overcome barriers to employment.
DHL / Street League Partnership
Over the partnership we have donated over £2m to enable Street League to continue supporting young people into employment. In addition to this, we have been able to deliver GoTeach sessions in Street League academies across the UK, providing the opportunity for the young people to learn about DHL.
